This is also my number 1 gripe with 64 bit right now, I know you can run 32 bit browser and you can do emulation in Linux, but I think that enough time has gone by for them to at least have a beta.

I stopped running IE7 x64 already since even FiringSquad warned me about all content not displaying properly on a 64-bit browser. Go figure.

What browser wants to use more than 2GB of memory?

I'm gonna go with a big fat zero.

Use 32-bit IE7, it will run faster than 64-bit IE7 anyway.

Under linux, I was able to modify the 32-bit flash player installer to install to a 64-bit copy of Firefox. Of course, under linux flash player's installer is a shell script, so it was as simple as looking for the section of code that checks the OS and patching the line of code that says "64 bit? no!"

^ thanks for the tip.  Even if there was a similar approach that could be take in Windows, I am probably going to just stick with the 32-bit browser for the moment.

I fail to see why it's so difficult to simply recompile existing source code into 64-bit binaries...

It's not, it's just too easy for large corporations to waste time on. Not that they are doing anything better with their time.

I do not like Adobe... so running their crapware in 32bit or 64bit is not my thing.

silverlight will control the market sooner rather than later if adobe keeps up the slacking.

My guess is that there aren't a whole lot of 64-bit compilers out there, and they're trying to work on that or something. That or IE7 really is quite a bit different in Vista than XP, and they can't do a straight re-compile. However for some apps, I do see why it wouldn't be drastically difficult just to recompile though.

I dont' care about difficulty, I'm not rebuilding some source just so that I can use a freaking plugin.  I am just surprised there's no 64-bit version yet.  Til then, I'll actually use both the 64-bit (default) and 32-bit browswer (when I would like the Flash player/plugin).
