The 6th Ever Official FiringSquad Meet, Greet, and Frag Weekend is 5 months away!

Registration is open and it is time for FS to reserve our spots.

When:  August 2nd (Thursday) - Aug 5th (Sunday), 2011

Where:  QuakeCon 2012 @ The Hilton Anatole, Dallas, Texas

What:  The worlds greatest lan party.  1000s of PC gamers from around the world descending on one room for days of non stop multiplayer mayhem.  It is simply a sight to behold, an endless sea of glowing computers and monitors.  Also, there is a large showroom floor featuring booths, demonstrations, pre-release games, and swag.  Think of it as a tiny little E3.  Also, the show always features first looks an unreleased games and great sessions with industry luminaries such as John Carmack.

Notes:

• Yo! The event is FREE!  $30 reserves you a prime seat with the crew and a free shirt though. I opted for this route. 
• We will have an official FS room at the hotel (FREE!) so you can plan on comfortable sleeping options and our own private bathroom!
• Bringing and showing off your own rig is a big part of the fun but I'm sure Zero can supply a loaner if that is an issue.
• Bring some money to cover food, drink, and parking.
• Register for the event here.  If you want reserved seats with the group, I nabbed B64-22 (near the bottom right).  Seating chart.
• Don't delay!  We can't garuntee the area around our spot won't get reserved up.

What airport should I be landing in? All of these stupid travel websites say Love Field is cheaper than DFW but I have no clue where any of that is. And for some reason, leaving Baltimore is cheaper than DC. At least Baltimore is only a 45 minute train ride for cheap.

It doesn't really matter but the event is in Dallas and Love Field is a little closer. Love Field is pretty much in the northwest corner of the city of Dallas where DFW is further west with the city of Irving between them.

Well, I'm going to try but as usual, work might get in the way. I know we have to do test of our disaster recovery systems. If it happens to fall on that weekend then obviously I won't make it. However, I think we play on doing it well before then so I should be good unless things go terrible. Then I might be fixing things all weekend. Basically, I'd like to attend but won't know for a while if I actually can.

Awe HELL YEAH Sync!  Glad you are able to make it down for the event!  Do you have a computer or will you need one?  I have that 14" Lenovo laptop (i7-2670qm / GT550m / 8gb Mem) I could lug down if need be.

Hello from Frag Weekend 6!!!  The LAN is jammed packed full of computer and the gaming is in full swing in here.  Unfortunately, the event is much more popular than people seemed to have anticipated and the entire BYOC filled up in just a few hours today, leaving 700 or so out in the cold heat.  Unfortunately, 2 of those were Zero's Sisters and her boyfriend Alan.  Besides that it's been an awesome trip down.  We got Sync (Will), Zero (Garret), and MadScientist (Andrew) repping here.  DiceU (John) has had to work much of the time.  Food has been a highlight as it usually is at Frag Weekends.  John's famous spicy burgers last night and from-scratch home-made pizza tonight.  Anyway, that's it for tonight, back to gaming.  Catch you kids later.

Lawl, I got trapped in the Charlotte, North Carolina airport for the night because of a freak storm. Not fun. 28 hours of boredom and starvation.

28 hours?!  Holy shit!  I thought my 3 hours delay was annoying.  I didn't enjoy getting home at 3am only to wake up at 6 for my first day of the new job.

Anyway, it was one hell of an event.  Works been kicking my ass so I can't do much of a write up now but I swear these weekends are some of the best times I ever ever had.
