Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

I think it will be a good MMORPG, probably even the best. But I don't see it or any other MMORPG attracting fans that aren't already into the genre. MMORPGs are like NASCAR in their appeal.

LOL,  so if the early 10's is like a handjob and the teens are like sex..then what should lvl 30 be like?  An awesome menage a trois?

Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

So has anyone who got into the beta dabbled in PvP combat?
To me building a character and questing is the main part of the game BUT after all of the quests are done and great/godly items found I think that PvP combat is what keeps me playing. Nothing more satisying than just beating another high level person when you know that if the was the end game boss you would have trounced him with ease.

No mention of PvP?  When you die, what happenes to your stuff?  PvP is what is going to keep me playing a game, like somebody else already stated.

(Note: "mob" = monster, and in EverQuest the color codes designate their approximate difficulty for your level. -ed.

With respect, the term 'mob' actually derives from 'mobile object'.

Another curly one is 'proc', (which refers to a weapons additional magical damage, done after its normal damage) which comes from process.  Hope that helps make things a little less fuzzy for new players :smileyhappy:

Cheers!

Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

Still beta, lots of stuff missing (like weather effects and PvP)

There is minimal PvP right now - dueling.

There's no PvP yet.  However the full release will see Horde vs. Alliance go at it, sort of similar to Dark Age of Camelot.

IF you wanted to PvP you'd probably be playing Shadowbane... or waiting for RoT ...

Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

Something left out of the preview I'd like to have seen is something about players with different skill levels playing together.  My friend tends to put an obsessive amount of time into playing, whereas I..... have a life......  I'd like to know if we can play together or are our differences in levels going to make it so we can't effectively group together (like every other freakin' MMORPG).

[ Edited ]
I think Nojopar made a very good point. A lot of the casual players would like to be able to play with their powergamer friends without being humiliated, despised (or they'll just stop paying and move on to another game, afterall whoever pays is the boss :smileyhappy: ). I guess what makes me stay is knowing by playing less then 10 hours a week that I can still enjoyed the game.

Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

SWG allows the casual gamers to play with the hardcore gamers. I doubt Blizzard will be stupid enough to leave this out. I am a casual gamer, I don't like to play computer games 24/7 like my friend does. However, World of Warcraft is the game I have been waiting for since forever. I would rather play this game more than Half-Life 2 or Doom 3. That's how badly I want this game to come out soon.

I love Blizzard's games and they will always be the best developer in my book.

'SWG allows the casual gamers to play with the hardcore gamers.'

No it doesn't. SWG was just like all the others.

Re: World of WarCraft preview discussion

Any word on when this title is coming out? I bet the beta testers know a lot more about the release date than I do. I'm really anxious for this game. I'm bored of computer games and I want a game that will last me for a long time. Not just a few months and I have to buy a new game. Or download a new game. I want something that I can play with my friends forever. An MMORPG computer game fits perfectly but I don't want to play EQ unless I have to.

I heard that WoW is coming out in October or November. Is this true? And if not, when is it coming out? If anyone knows a more specific release date, please inform me. Thanks.
