Right now I'm playing through some of the Left 4 Dead campaigns. What can I say other than, I love it!

I can't wait 'til I can get that game... it's a shame I couldn't afford it at launch, when there would have been more people playing then there ever will be again (at least until some cool updates come out). ![]() Playing: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) Re: Quick thoughts on the games you're playing now.Options
01-05-2009 07:33 PM I had another little problem with BioShock. Whenever the game isn't closed properly (say, because the game crashes), all of the settings (graphics, audio, controls...) are reset to default. I've had to redo all of the settings three or four times so far, and it's getting on my nerves.
I'm still enjoying the game, though, except for one cheap part that I just played through with endlessly respawning enemies... ![]() Playing: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) Re: Quick thoughts on the games you're playing now.Options

Playing
Too Human - Good Game seems to be a grind at times, but what's with the camera angles ffs.
GOW2 - Awesome game, love the co-op mode, love the online features as well.
COD WaW - OK COD4 back in the day, nuff said.
GH3 Legends of Rock - Even the wife likes this one, though it needs to be played on a f**k off telly preferably plasma.
MK3 - XBLA - Loved it when it first came out had to buy it now. "Get over here"!!

01-06-2009 07:57 AM I'm just starting to cut my teeth on Civ 4 and fortunately / unfortunately I'm finding it to have the same consuming effect on me that Sins does. I can just boot up the game and won't be able to pry my eyes from the screen or my mind from the game for hours and hours on end. At least the turn based gameplay helps me fit in bathroom and beer breaks easier than sins does. I still have a lot to learn though as I'm still a 4x noob. I'll probably start a dedicate thread on the topic soon.

Every play X-COM? Visuals are dated as hell, still fun IMO. Also, there's Jagged Alliance 2. And if you want to go the console route, you might enjoy Final Fantasy Tactics or Front Mission.
As far as my thoughts on what I'm playing, Left 4 Dead is pretty fun, but WTF Valve? Give us a LAN option. God I hate Steam.

WAS playing Exodus From the Earth, a budget FPS that I pulled off Steam for ten bucks. I don't think it was worth five. Semi interesting story, but lackluster gunplay and enemies who all have the same animation. Old school graphics and horrible voice acting. Poor presentation as a whole. My third bummer in two weeks.

Since finishing the game...I have revised my play time on this game. I will play Fallout 3 another time through as a bad karma mean murdering SOB. But that won't take another 6 months. Maybe 3-4 weeks with the amount of time I have these days.
i will then wait for the mission mods that are going to be officially released over the next 3 months.
So more like 2 months, not the original 6 I had mentioned lol

01-06-2009 10:40 AM Just finished Dead Space the other day. I have to give it two big thumbs up for visuals and scare factor...very challenging combat, but a few too many "go fetch that thingamijig and put it in this doohickey to activate the whatzamahozitz" type quests. The fact the game ran like butter with everthing turned up added some points. Prior to that I rediscovered Fallout 1 and 2 thanks to GOG...funny how games with completely outdated graphics can trump a lot of the "wow" factor stuff that's coming out lately.
Just started Fallout 3 and I have to say I'm pretty impressed so far...I can tell this one's going to occupy WAY too much of my free time. It's a bit frustrating that I can't seem to do much of anything in the first town because all of my stats are too low...guess I'll have to wander into the countryside and kill a few critters before I talk to anymore people. I also fired up Far Cry 2 just to watch the opening scene. I like to concentrate on one game at a time, otherwise I tend to muddle storylines together.
Oh, and I'm about 3/4s the way through Gears 2....perfect game for when I just feel like blasting the crap out of something.

The thing is you could play Fallout for 30-40 hours and get one of the best gaming experiences of the year and then set it down. Or you could keep going with the same character and play another 30-40 hours and get an even more amazing experience. I've put in 35 and set it aside for the time being to catch up on other games, but I fully intend on coming back to it and putting another very significant chunk of time in.
Left 4 Dead is still the shit. I'm really loving it right now, even if it is keeping me away from Fallout. Re: Quick thoughts on the games you're playing now.Options

now keep in mind that I don't have the luxury of gaming whenever I want anymore and I visited every possible destination on the map and did all missions that were presented to me...plus I ran some missions a few different ways by reloading saves just to see some of the different paths you could take to completing them...I'm thinking that I wasted around 70-80 hours on this game, but it was time well spent.
Excellent game.

Right now, due to family and work, I'm only jumping on occasionally to relax. I've been downloading and playing several user-made Portal maps. Some are quite good, others suck. One pissed me off because once I finally figured out the trick he wanted me to figure out to get a companion cube way back up to where I started..... he had it timed to disappear so I had to go back down and start over... that one really irked me.
Once in awhile I'll run a favorite level in TimeShift or Crysis or Bioshock... PS2Fish and I were talking about Frontlines Fuel of War and I think I'd like to give it a run. The Stalker and Fallout series too. I just don't have time to start new ones right now. ![]() Re: Quick thoughts on the games you're playing now.Options

Frontlines: Fuel of War is a fun game. It's like a fusion of GRAW and BF2. Not a very remarkable game but it is fun nonetheless. And personally I loved the soundtrack.

The main storyline of Fallout 3, I find, is surprisingly short. I think I may have spent around 15 hours or so on the main parts (that's an estimate). The sidequests really eat up the hours, though. I think I spent around 30 hours or so to finish the game. ![]() Playing: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) Re: Quick thoughts on the games you're playing now.Options

I never bothered to explore the whole world, I just took sidequests that I stumbled into by accident. If I would have played the game in a complete way, I'm sure it would have taken me much longer. But I'm more of a "just beat the game" kind of guy.
