Feat.  Sins of a Solar Empire (PC)

Frag Time:  8pm EST, 7pm CST, 6pm MST, 5pm PST

Obviously this will be a tricky one for a frag night given the average game length but hey, as far as I'm concerned, the last man standing is the last man standing.

 

Also note the start time of 9pm.

I could probably be ready to play by around 8 PM CST if I can make it.  Unfortunately, it appears I may have some family in town Friday evening and it might be a little uncool of me to hole up doing the nerdy game thing now.  We'll see.  I would very much like to attend since I have voted for a  Sins night since... well... since we started voting and even before that.

Well doly and I spoke about the upcoming Sins night and I wanted to toss around an idea (Although Doly was pushing it more than I :smileytongue: ). Doly has a pretty extensive mod that he's created for sins that adds in 3 new races based around stargate. But it also incorporates three additional mods, a fleet size expansion, a mod that adds in about a dozen or so new planet types and a mod that increases planet sizes.

 

All the info can be found here.

 

I would actually prefer to play with the mods. And it still has the old races in them so you don't have to learn anything new if you don't want too. But the additional planet types are really nice and add a whole new element of strategy to the game.(Oceanic Planets, Forrest Planets, Urban Planets, etc etc.)

 

So if yall are intersted just download the SG Galaxy and Fleetsize mods. To install just extract the Zip archives to:

(Windows Vista/7) "**Your User Directory**/AppData/Local/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods-Entrenchment V1.041"

(XP) "**Your User Directory**/AppData/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods-Entrenchment V1.041"

 

Once they are there start up Sins and goto Options>Mods and make sure Galaxy is first in the list and Fleetsize second. Also you will need to turn your settings down from Highest to High as it can cause a crash mid game.

 

You can read about the new races that are in the mod on the link above. I think it will make the sins night a lot more fun, but thats up to everyone else. Let me know if everyone is interested.

Haha.  I wasn't really pushing it, just thought it might be an option since it does nothing but add more to the game.  I haven't played plain old Sins in so long now, as I prefer having more stuff in play in the game now.  It doesn't really change the core gamplay at all, just brings in new planet types and new races which all play a bit differently (if you choose to use them).

 

I'm sure Zero just wants to hear someone squeal as one of his massive Ancient capital ship jumps into their gravity well.  :smileytongue:

Forgot to mention that entrenchment is required for the mod... but I figured most people have that already. Its more fun with starbases anyways!

$10. It's really worth it. There's nothing more awesome than building a starbase and watching the destruction it unleashes. It provides a ton of much-needed defense related units to the game... Not that we need a few more hours of stalemate as it is.

Oh yeah that was amazing.

 

 

It was going on for hours. Bysmitty decided to just end it and send his entire fleet after me in which I slaughtered him and proceeded to take over all of his planets. Then I began a crusade against Dolynick but I had Internet problems, got disconnected and we decided to leave the ending for another time. Mucho fun. We definitely gotta do this again.
