Seriously, this sucks. I like the plaintext HTML editor WAY MORE than the cheesy idiot-mode rich text editor.
But Lithium has continued to chip away at its functionality.
Used to be, <p> and <br> were (or seemed to be) implicitly converted to linebreaks in the HTML editor, so that loading up a post (or typing a new one) wouldnt result you wish a gigantic-ass wall of text with no paragraph seperation. Similarly, linebreaks entered into the HTML editor would be converted to <br> tags on post submit, so that when we typed in paragraphs in the HTML editor, they stayed that way.
Nowadays, the HTML interpretation seems to be strict, meaning that I have to manually put in <br> or <p> tags just to seperate lines. THIS SUCKS! If I forget to do this, the resulting post is all on one line (word wrapped of course). Similarly, editing posts in HTML mode gives me one big wall of text without paragraph seperation.
Here's the thing... I like being able to compose a post without taking my hands off the keyboard. I know HTML pretty well and its really nice benig able to simply type <b> or <img src="..."> or <a href="..."> or whatever instead of having to manually mouse over and click stupid little icons.
Make the HTML editor not suck! Please!

I second this. I'm also a big time fan of the HTML editor, but due to the checkbox which said "convert all carriage returns to line breaks" got removed I kinda had to make the switch out to the graphical editor so I don't have to always add the <br> tags when I want a line break. Much more of a fan of the <a href="...">I'll pop my link here</a> and it'll go right to making it into a link that opens in a new window. (essentially adding the target="_blank" to the link.
On a sidenote/semi-rant having nothing to do with anything here, the whole target="_blank" mofidier or whatever it's called, technically ain't legal strict XHTML, but it's not like the vast majority of web designers are creating perfect websites that adhere to those guidelines. Considering IE hardly renders pages according to the standards anyway (acid3?) and doesn't display half of anything useful using the object tag (the way to embed pages using strict XHTML and validate), websites get broken. I like efficient and correct code, although there are simple checks to load in different pages for different browsers, so technically only the IE page would be broken... Oh website development... probably should get into it more just for fun.

Thanks for the reports. I will pass them along to Lithium.
